What they do
ROM-Nederland represents the collective of nine Regional Development Agencies (ROMs) in the Netherlands, operating as public-private partnerships without a profit motive, focused on strengthening regional economies and employment. The organization serves as a linking pin between the national government and regional economic initiatives, pooling strengths of various innovation agencies and economic boards. In 2024, ROMs facilitated 538 innovation projects worth €236 million and invested €215 million in 367 startups, scale-ups, and innovative SMEs. Over 50% of Dutch companies securing venture capital do so with ROM investment. They also attracted 155 international companies to the Netherlands and organized 194 joint trade promotion events in 2024. Key collaborations include Invest-NL, TechLeap, Trade & Innovate NL, NFIA, and Invest International. Their work contributes to societal themes such as health, sustainability, nutrition, and digitalization.
