The University of Washington (UW) supports innovation and entrepreneurship through its collaborative innovation hub, CoMotion, and a strategic partnership with Pack Ventures. CoMotion facilitates licenses and spin-offs from UW research. Pack Ventures, an independently run venture capital fund, invests in startups with UW affiliations, including those founded by faculty, students, and alumni. This collaboration aims to bolster the UW's entrepreneurial ecosystem and commercialize promising technologies, providing mentorship and early-stage funding. State law prohibits the University of Washington from directly investing in startups.
