# Data Steward

As a Data Steward, you ensure that the data products in your domain are correct, consistent, complete and compliant. You are the trusted voice that makes data products reliable and builds the confidence others need to use them with assurance.

## What you do

• Own data governance, quality, metadata and lineage for data products throughout their full lifecycle (discover → design → build → publish → operate → retire)
• Define domain-specific data quality rules (completeness, validity, consistency, timeliness, uniqueness) and assess automated test results
• Maintain and validate data contracts: schemas, business rules, semantics, privacy classifications and access controls
• Develop and maintain domain-level semantic models, align KPIs and data definitions across domains
• Validate lineage from source to valuable data product, ensure transformations, schema mappings and impact changes are documented
• Proactively identify governance gaps and propose improvements before problems escalate
• Coach and assess the work of less experienced data stewards
• Represent your domain in cross-domain governance discussions

## What we're looking for

You have advanced expertise in data governance, quality frameworks, metadata management and semantic modelling. You are comfortable navigating ambiguity: interpreting standards where they are unclear, escalating when needed, and representing your domain with authority. Your combination of deep tooling knowledge and stakeholder credibility sets you apart.
