# Junior Python Software Engineer

GTE is seeking a Junior Python Software Engineer focused on building internal tools and automations. In this role, everything revolves around delivering value quickly: shipping working, production-ready code in days or weeks—not months.

## What you do
You work primarily with Python and use AI-coding tools (such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, and Cursor) as a standard part of your development workflow. AI does the heavy lifting, while you remain responsible for quality, testing, and production-ready solutions.

This is not a role where you build perfect architectures. This is a role where you build practical solutions that solve real business problems.

## First 90 days
Your success will be measured by:

• Delivering fast, safe, and consistent Python code that goes to production
• Using AI tools effectively without adding unnecessary complexity
• Working independently without constant guidance
• Proactively identifying improvement opportunities and risks in existing systems

After 90 days, you will be an engineer trusted with making production changes and holding end-to-end ownership of the tools you build.

## Requirements

• Hands-on experience with AI-coding tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar)
• Previously built a complete application or internal tool
• Strong in Python and comfortable with production-ready code
• Experience with APIs and backend logic
• Basic knowledge of SQL and database interactions
• Familiar with Git and version control workflows
• Able to debug, refactor, and extend existing codebases

## Nice to have

• Basic knowledge of Docker
• Experience with automation and scripting
