# Founding AI Engineer at HelloPrint

Helloprint is looking for a Founding AI Engineer who works directly with the founding team, including Hans (CEO) and Michael (CIO/Chief AI Officer). This is a role for people who are not only excellent engineers, but for whom building and commercial thinking are one and the same.

## What you'll build

There is no predetermined roadmap. You identify the opportunities yourself. The highest impact problems are currently in:

• Dynamic pricing and margin optimization across 14 markets
• Agentic procurement: supplier selection, ordering, quality management
• Automating the customer journey from configuration to post-delivery
• Intelligent content and SEO infrastructure at platform scale
• Predictive demand and inventory across the supplier network
• Internal tooling that multiplies the output of every team

## How building works here

• No brief. You identify the opportunity, business case first
• You sketch the solution and define the success metric before writing code
• Build to production standard: monitored, tested, cost-managed
• Full lifecycle ownership. Live means live, not merged to a branch
• You measure the commercial outcome and report it as a number
• You move immediately to the next highest impact problem

## Who you are

You're someone who has been building since childhood, not because someone asked you to, but because you couldn't stop. A technical co-founder who never had anyone around to hide behind. You learned to prioritize by asking 'what is this worth?' before asking 'how do I build this?'.

## Must-haves

• You've been building things since before it was a profession: side projects, tools, systems that nobody assigned but had to exist
• Production systems live and dependent on a real business, personally built by you, not led or supervised
• Commercial instinct that precedes technical execution: you know the business case before you write the first line of code
• Deep fluency in LLMs, agentic workflows and modern AI infrastructure
• Strong architectural judgment: you design for failure modes, costs and scale from the start
• Autonomous by nature: you act without validation, brief or structure
• Office-first: this role is on-site in Rotterdam, five days a week

## What we offer

• Base salary: €150,000 to €220,000 gross per year
• Unlimited performance bonus directly tied to commercial impact
• 0.5 to 1.5% equity, 4-year vest with 1-year cliff
