# AI Engineer - Financial Market Compliance
Join NiCE's new AI engineering team in Alkmaar to build world-class AI models for compliance. You'll co-found and shape the team from day one, with influence over architecture, tooling, and culture.
## Responsibilities
- Co-found and shape the new AI engineering team in NiCE Netherlands
- Train and fine-tune LLMs, SLMs, and other ML/DL models for compliance use cases (communication surveillance, market surveillance, trade surveillance)
- Architect training pipelines integrated with data capture platforms
- Optimize inference pipelines for cost-efficient AI capabilities at scale
- Evaluate emerging AI techniques (RAG, agents, distillation, fine-tuning strategies) and bring promising ones into production
- Own explainability and auditability end-to-end — from interpretation techniques (SHAP, attention analysis, custom audit trails) to producing model cards and evidence artefacts for compliance officers and regulators
## Requirements
- MSc or PhD in Computer Science, AI/ML, or related field — or equivalent hands-on experience
- Solid experience with modern ML/DL frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face)
- Experience training and/or fine-tuning LLMs or SLMs
- Strong NLP foundations applied to real-world problems (sequence classification, named entity recognition, semantic search, RAG over unstructured financial communications)
- Familiarity with ML infrastructure (training pipelines, GPU clusters, MLOps)
- Pragmatic mindset focused on getting models into production
- Bonus: experience in financial services, RegTech, or highly regulated domains
