Brighter Signals BV, a deep tech company founded in 2025 and based in Breukelen, has reached two consecutive milestones. On 5 May 2026 it closed a funding round of €1.6 million, followed by a 'Most Scalable' award at the startup competition of InCabin USA on 12 June 2026. The company develops textile-based sensor technology that gives machines a precise sense of touch, with applications in automotive, robotics and healthcare.
The funding round combines private and public capital. Venture capital funds Wake Up Capital and ELOKON Ventures participated, alongside a Eurostars grant co-financed by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO). Innovatiefonds Noord-Holland is also involved; that fund had already provided a convertible loan of €328,000 on 13 January 2026. The Eurostars grant of €500,000 was awarded on 17 March 2026.
Brighter Signals focuses on what the company itself describes as 'precise touch sensing for machines'. The sensor technology is embedded in textile and can measure pressure, touch and position across large, flexible surfaces. This distinguishes the approach from conventional rigid sensors, which are less well suited to curved or soft surfaces such as car seats, robotic arms or medical devices.
In the automotive sector, applications are a natural fit in seats and steering wheels, where the sensor can contribute to passenger detection or driver status monitoring, among other things. In robotics, the focus is on tactile feedback for robotic grippers, and in healthcare on pressure monitoring for bedridden patients. The company is registered under the Hardware & IoT category and is headquartered in Breukelen.
The composition of the funding round shows that Brighter Signals has managed to tap multiple funding sources within a relatively short period. In addition to the participations from Wake Up Capital and ELOKON Ventures, the Eurostars grant and the support from Innovatiefonds Noord-Holland form a substantial public component. Eurostars is a European programme aimed at innovative small and medium-sized enterprises that collaborate across borders on research and development.
The total external funding attributable to Brighter Signals to date is approaching €2 million, including the previously reported €328,000 from Innovatiefonds Noord-Holland. For a company founded only in 2025, that represents considerable seed capital to finance product development and the first commercial steps.
On 12 June 2026, Brighter Signals won the 'Most Scalable' award at the startup competition of InCabin USA. InCabin is a trade show and conference focused on in-cabin technology for vehicles, covering sensors, displays and user experiences inside the cabin. The award category 'Most Scalable' reflects the assessment that Brighter Signals' technology is well suited to scaling towards broader applications or larger production volumes.
Recognition at an international automotive trade show is relevant for a young company like Brighter Signals in terms of visibility among potential partners and customers in the sector.
