Dexter Energy is an Amsterdam-based software provider for short-term trading in renewable energy. The platform combines generation forecasts (how much power does a portfolio produce?) and price forecasts (what is a megawatt-hour worth right now?) into continuous trading signals for the day-ahead, intraday and balancing markets. To do so, the system processes large volumes of weather data, market prices and technical data on the assets themselves, from solar panels and wind turbines to battery storage systems. According to the company, customers such as Centrica Energy, Pure Energie, Luminus and Sunrock save between ten and 25 percent on imbalance costs. Dexter supports around 30 gigawatts of renewable and battery capacity across thirteen European countries.
