1. About Us
Dutch Startup AI is the platform for the Dutch AI sector. We collect and present information about AI startups in the Netherlands to make the sector visible and facilitate connections.

2. What data do we collect?
We process personal/company data in four different categories, each with its purpose and basis.
2.1 Publicly collected startup information
What do we collect?
We collect information about AI startups that is publicly available on the internet, such as via company websites, LinkedIn, press releases, the Chamber of Commerce, and other public sources.
This includes:
Company name and description
Names of founders and management
Location
Website and public contact details
Publicly available information about funding and investors
Why?
To provide a complete and up-to-date overview of the Dutch AI sector.
Basis:
Legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). We have a legitimate interest in mapping the Dutch AI sector based on publicly available information.
Correction or deletion:
Is something incorrect, or would you like certain information to be adjusted? Contact us via info@dutchstartup.ai. We process requests within 30 days.
2.2 Registered startups
What do we collect?
Startups can register to become visible on our platform. Upon registration, we request:
Company name and description
Contact details (name, email, phone number)
Information about the team, product, and funding
Any additional information you provide
Why?
To assess whether your startup meets our criteria (AI startup, based in the Netherlands, no known issues)
To add you to the platform
To contact you about platform updates or collaboration opportunities (such as our Founder Series), provided you have consented
Basis:
Consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) and performance of the contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Retention period:
As long as your startup is active on the platform. Upon removal from the platform, we retain your data for up to 1 year for administrative purposes unless you request earlier deletion.
2.3 Partners
What do we collect?
Organizations can register for a partnership. We collect:
Contact details (name, position, email, phone number)
Company information
Information about the desired collaboration
Why?
To discuss and execute partnership opportunities.
Confidentiality:
We treat all information shared by partners in the context of a (potential) partnership confidentially. We do not share this information with third parties, except in public communication about the partnership, during the term of cooperation, and with mutual agreement.
Basis:
Performance of the contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) and legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Retention period:
During the partnership and up to 1 year after the termination of the collaboration.
2.4 User profiles (visitors)
What do we collect?
Visitors can create a profile on our platform. We collect:
Name and email address
Password (encrypted storage)
Preferences and saved favorites
Newsletter preferences
Why?
To save your favorites and preferences
To send you newsletters (only if you subscribe)
Basis:
Consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) and performance of the contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Sharing with third parties:
We only share your profile data with third parties if you have given explicit consent (opt-in). Without your permission, we share nothing.
Retention period:
As long as your profile is active. You can delete your profile at any time.
3. Data Sharing
We never sell your data.
We only share data with:
Processors: Service providers who help us operate the platform (such as hosting, email services, and analytics). We have processor agreements with these parties.
Legal obligations: If we are legally obliged to share data.
4. Cookies
We currently only use functional cookies that are necessary for the platform's operation, like remembering your login credentials. No consent is required for these cookies.
We plan to implement Google Analytics in the future to gain insights into the platform's usage. At that time, we will adjust this privacy statement and place a cookie banner allowing you to give or refuse consent.
5. Security and Storage
We take appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data against loss, misuse, and unauthorized access.
Location of data:
Your data is hosted with TransIP, a Dutch hosting provider. Therefore, your data remains within the European Union.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
Request access to the data we hold about you
Request correction if data is incorrect
Request deletion of your non-public data
Request restriction of processing
Object to processing based on legitimate interest
Request data transfer (data portability)
Withdraw your consent (this does not affect processing before withdrawal)

7. Changes
If we change this privacy statement, we will publish the new version on our website with a new date. For significant changes, we will notify you actively.
