AI for All - Enabling responsible AI Adoption for SMEs

PhD project focusing on measurable AI-driven impact in SMEs. You will design, implement, and evaluate AI systems that generate productivity gains while remaining transparent, accountable, and aligned with organizational autonomy.

## Main duties and responsibilities:

• Participate in field interventions to investigate inhibitors and accelerators for digital technology and AI adoption in SMEs
• Research AI adoption in SMEs through the lens of technology, productivity and digital autonomy
• Run large scale econometric and statistical analysis on data from 10,000 SMEs
• Develop an AI solution taxonomy for SMEs supporting responsible adoption, auditing, and knowledge sharing
• Co-create an Agentic AI-based survey method and compare it to traditional survey techniques
• Create open data and software tools for enhancing AI adoption in SMEs
• Present research findings at international conferences
• Write publications in leading international journals
• Complete a PhD thesis within four years
• Assist in teaching-related activities (approximately 1 day per week), including undergraduate tutorials and BSc thesis supervision
• Participate in departmental research functions

Time allocation: 80% research, 20% teaching at Amsterdam Business School.
