Lead Java/Kotlin Backend Engineer Utrecht

As Lead Java/Kotlin Backend Engineer you work on projects with strategic customers. You are the architect and lead engineer who sets direction, conducts client intake sessions, makes design decisions and hands-on builds complex systems. You work on domain modeling, scalable event-driven architectures with Kafka and microservices, and delivery automation in cloud-native environments (AWS/Azure). You help build the new JVM practice from the ground up, expand the footprint with clients, collaborate closely with near- and offshore colleagues, and guide local engineers in their development. You manage multidisciplinary projects entirely in-house with a focus on quality, collaboration and accountability.
